About the Position
Are you passionate about creating engaging content and possess excellent communication and writing skills? Then the Communications Officer position is for you!
As the Communications Officer, you will work closely with Maricopa County Library District’s (MCLD) 15 library branches and administration team to conceptualize and develop engaging content for social media, email newsletters, customer service messages, staff newsletters, and more.
The MCLD Communications team plays a key role in supporting the mission, vision, and values of the Library District and the County through external and internal communications support of all types. The Communications Team also plays a vital role in supporting the MCLD brand and promoting large districtwide initiatives. This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, alternating between remote work from home and in-office work.

We Require
- One year of communications, public relations, public information, or marketing experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field
- A combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

- Experience designing in Canva, social media, and creating marketing strategies
- Excellent project management and writing skills
- Experience working in a public library
Job Contributions
- Research, design, produce, edit, and distribute written, graphic design, photographic materials, and other related public documents using a variety of formats (i.e. social media posts, staff talking points, email newsletters, etc.)
- Manage all of MCLD’s main social media accounts
- Work closely with library branch staff, managers, and supervisors to support their unique communications needs and social media presence
- Coordinate, plan, and promote departmental and/or countywide programs, services, special events, and policies
- Attend meetings and community events for outreach opportunities and assist with live coverage of library events
- Track trends through various tools and adjust communication strategy based on analysis
- Gather and write content for monthly staff and customer newsletter, and coordinate email marketing of library events & notices
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office and library environment, and depending on needs, may require evening and weekend availability
- Hybrid schedule, working in office and remotely
- Travel to other library branches and other locations to meet with staff, create content, and attend library events
- Ability to travel to and from various locations throughout Maricopa County utilizing personal or county-owned vehicles
- Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of hire
