The University of Arizona Libraries (UAL) seeks a project manager to join the Technology Strategy & Services department (TeSS) in the Project & Portfolio Management unit. As one of two unit members, you'll support project work happening within the department and communicate with stakeholders across the library.
In this position you'll coordinate project work in the areas of software development, operations, or other types of IT work, from start to finish across multiple work styles and tools, facilitate gathering and refining requirements, and work towards shared understanding for implementers and stakeholders. By documenting, supporting, and improving work processes within the department, you'll help implementers easily onboard to different areas of our portfolio and support cross-unit collaboration opportunities.

- Manage projects in the areas of software development, operations, or other types of IT work.
- Define and evaluate project milestones, requirements, scope, and objectives.
- Develop relevant plans, schedules, status updates, or other tools for coordination.
- Act as a project's single point of contact for stakeholders across the organization.
- Facilitate project communication and help describe, track, and organize technical work.
- Create and maintain documentation related to our projects and products.
- Monitor and share environment information to inform decisions (e.g. projects happening in central IT that affect library IT work).
- Continuously improve your skills and knowledge of field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general concepts, principles, and practices of project management.
- Knowledge of agile principles and tools, Kanban, and/or lean project management processes.
- Knowledge of user experience design, research, and related processes.
- Ability to describe IT work for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to summarize and share project updates with a broad audience (e.g. all library staff).
- Ability to help others develop project management expertise (e.g. by providing training, templates, tools, or facilitating communities of practice).
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and inclusive environment, one that values and leverages the benefits of diverse perspectives.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and 3 years of relevant work experience required or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
- Experience coordinating or implementing projects in the areas of software development, operations, or other types of IT work.
- Experience with scheduling, coordinating, facilitating, and tracking meetings and other asynchronous conversations.
- Experience writing documents which support projects (e.g. plans, project charges, status updates).
- Experience with tools and practices which encourage collaboration within and across teams.
- Experience in a higher education, library, or other consensus-driven environment.
