Performs all library duties including, but not limited to: Assisting and instructing patrons in locating library materials and information resources (both online and in-person), answering reference questions, placing holds, requesting inter-library loan materials, using library equipment, registering patrons, assisting patrons with technology, circulating library materials, sending out library notices, shelving, weeding, withdrawing materials, shelf-reading, and filling holds.
Establishes programming for the library including, but not limited to: creating, planning, advertising, and executing for multiple audience types and levels.
Sets goals and objectives for collection management based on collection needs and public demand. Orders materials in accordance with established goals and objectives utilizing budgeted funds.
Leads volunteers including understanding and applying library policies and procedures.
Performs administrative tasks as required.
Acts as liaison to organizations associated with the library and the local community.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
To obtain a thorough knowledge of library methods, principles, and practices.
Ability to utilize and help patrons with technology as well as learn new technologies.
To communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
To develop a thorough knowledge of reference materials and tools of research.
To possess a working knowledge of computer technologies, library databases and software.
To effectively plan, organize, and meet required time deadlines.
To oversee the work of volunteers in a courteous and business-like manner.
To maintain effective working relationships with the library community, volunteers, Library District staff and other professionals.
