Director of Library Services

Required Qualifications:

• Master of Library Science, Information Science, or equivalent degree
• Strong interpersonal, professional, organizational, and communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding of the interaction of library, media centers, and learning resource centers (e.g. tutoring services) to enhance the academic experience
• Working knowledge of cataloging and automated library systems
• Experience in the use of technology assisted learning including on-line library resources
• Willing and able to travel to satellite campuses to oversee integrated library services

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree from an American Library Association (ALA)- accredited program
• Full-time librarian experience at a community college or other post-secondary institution
• Experience working with an ethnically and culturally diverse customer base
• Desire and ability to continually improve the types and level of service provided by all areas of the College library system
• Experience developing budgets and administering approved budgets in a fiscally responsible manner
• Experience with Innovative Interfaces Inc. - Polaris Integrated Library System
• Three to five years professional library experience including supervision of library staff
• An understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and goals

Responsibilities:

• Direct the activities of all related library services within the College, including tutoring services and LMS (Canvas) support.
• Prepare the annual budget proposal for all areas of library services and administer approved budgets in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Propose and implement new services to enhance service to the academic community and the public.
• Direct the operation of all libraries, learning resource centers, and media centers to the benefit of students and communities.
• Hire, schedule and supervise all Library personnel in Graham County.
• Train all Library Services personnel.
• Serve on various institutional committees.
• Provide information literacy instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
