Required Qualifications:
- Master of Library Science, Information Science, or equivalent degree
- Strong interpersonal, professional, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the interaction of library, media centers, and learning resource centers (e.g. tutoring services) to enhance the academic experience
- Working knowledge of cataloging and automated library systems
- Experience in the use of technology assisted learning including on-line library resources
- Willing and able to travel to satellite campuses to oversee integrated library services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree from an American Library Association (ALA)- accredited program
- Full-time librarian experience at a community college or other post-secondary institution
- Experience working with an ethnically and culturally diverse customer base
- Desire and ability to continually improve the types and level of service provided by all areas of the College library system
- Experience developing budgets and administering approved budgets in a fiscally responsible manner
- Experience with Innovative Interfaces Inc. - Polaris Integrated Library System
- Three to five years professional library experience including supervision of library staff
- An understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and goals
Responsibilities:
- Direct the activities of all related library services within the College, including tutoring services and LMS (Canvas) support.
- Prepare the annual budget proposal for all areas of library services and administer approved budgets in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Propose and implement new services to enhance service to the academic community and the public.
- Direct the operation of all libraries, learning resource centers, and media centers to the benefit of students and communities.
- Hire, schedule and supervise all Library personnel in Graham County.
- Train all Library Services personnel.
- Serve on various institutional committees.
- Provide information literacy instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
