Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) school.
Our Preferred Candidate has:
Preference given to candidates with public library experience (paid, internship and/or volunteer experience will all be considered).
Experience planning and presenting programs in a public library.
Experience planning and conducting story time with youth.
Essential Job Tasks
Provide reference and reader's advisory services to customers in person, by phone, and through email.
Plans and presents library programming to diverse audiences (ex. Story time, STEAM, coding, tween, etc.)
Instruct individual customers or small groups on the use of PCs, the online catalog, various databases and the Internet.
Prepare book displays, create posters, bibliographies, bookmarks, bulletin boards, games, and promotional displays.
Facilitate public reading programs/initiatives.
Conduct group tours, school visits, and community outreach.
Respond to customer concerns in person, on the telephone, and online.
Prepare cash summary, balance monies received, and balance cash drawer.
Serve as a local liaison to the central selectors for library materials in assigned areas.
May serve in lead role as appropriate.
