Ensure proper procedures are followed to open and close the library building. Responsible for the building during the closing shift Sunday through Thursday.
Assist library users with circulation needs such as checking out materials, returning materials, renewing and requesting materials from other ASU Libraries
Assist library users in the use of the library system including the library catalog and other resource databases
Provide research support and advice to library users, referring to a subject librarian as needed
Provide directional assistance for library and campus
Provide basic troubleshooting of computer and printing needs
Interpret and enforce library and university policies and procedures
Resolve conflicts and address emergencies, referring to higher level staff or campus police as indicated
Monitors and responds to requests for holds of ASU-owned materials, document delivery and Interlibrary Loan.
Assist with training and supervision of student employees.
Perform stacks maintenance activities as needed in support of access to the general collection
Provide support for a variety of projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree AND 2 years prior library experience; at least 1 of which is in an academic library or similar setting; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Demonstrated knowledge of library policies and procedures
Experience in using an integrated library system, i.e. Alma
Information/reference experience in an academic library
Circulation experience in a library
Experience in working directly with the public in a service environment
Demonstrated knowledge of Library of Congress call number classification system
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with a variety of application software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
Experience working independently as well as ability to work effectively within a team environment
Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills to be used in interactions with users and vendors
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking; frequent physical demands include stooping, bending, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds and pushing objects of varying weights up to 100 pounds; exposure to dust and other airborne materials; regularly required to access books and other physical items from shelves up to 7 feet in height requiring climbing library ladders or stools. Regular customer services interaction with both ASU affiliated and non affiliated library users. May be required to work without other staff or student workers during evening and Sunday shifts.
