The Campus Library Manager serves as leader for the Glendale campus library, supervising Glendale Research & Instruction Librarians and Circulation Supervisor. This position coordinates campus outreach by initiating and maintaining relationships with students, faculty, staff, and residents in the clinics, campus and online. This position participates in a 3-librarian campus team of instruction, reference and research services. The Campus Library Manager will utilize skill sets including initiating communication, dynamic thinking, perception, strategy, and valuing a team-centered approach. This position is part of a management team that plans and implements strategic direction, policies, and procedures for both campus libraries, which includes occasional travel to the Downers Grove, IL campus. The office hours are M-F, 8:30AM – 5:00PM. The position reports to the Director of Library Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support Glendale Research & Instruction Librarians (2) and Circulation Supervisor (1)
- Foster and maintain positive and meaningful relationships with other departments and programs on the Arizona campus in a concerted effort to expand the awareness of library services, instruction, and resources
- Provide reference, research and instruction services as well as assisting with circulation services
- Lead and coordinate outreach for health fairs, cultural fairs, and other clinic and campus events
- Provide leadership to both campuses to coordinate university-wide library outreach for events, projects, other opportunities, and continuous improvement of library services.
- Participate in collection development activities
- Other duties as needed
The position is responsible for the direct supervision of 2 librarians and 1 supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
- A Master’s degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution
- Experience providing library instruction in both formal and informal settings
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience providing reference in a health science or academic library setting.
- A minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience including evidence of experience managing a diverse group of people
- Experience working in a team, and customer service oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- MLA membership preferred
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Reference management software proficiency preferred.
High skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and boards of directors
High skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
