ASU Library seeks a highly motivated, collaborative, and service-oriented collections development and management professional to lead the Distinctive Collections team in the strategy, planning, policy development, donor relationship development, and management of distinctive collections, both print and digital. This position also provides leadership and vision for a community-focused approach to the selection, organization, and ongoing management of distinctive collections housed in ASU Libraries’ closed stacks, including rare books and manuscripts and portions of the Greater Arizona, Chicano Research, Latin American, Music, Design, and Child Drama & Theater collections. The successful candidate will actively seek strategic partnerships with local, state, national, and international entities to further the work of ASU Library and align our collections with the needs of the ASU community and the goals and mission of Arizona State University. S/he is also responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating personnel within this unit, including a team of curators and archives specialists.
A focus of the position is to work closely with key stakeholders to define distinctive collections development policies and processes; determine preservation, conservation, and reformatting priorities; steward donor relationships; manage distinctive collections documentation; and develop and oversee reference services for rare, unique, and archival materials. The successful candidate will work closely with other units to ensure exemplary preservation protocols and closed stacks management, efficient and appropriate acquisition and processing, and alignment with Library and University initiatives. S/he will use innovative approaches to problem solving and collection assessment tools for data analysis and decision making.

This is a continuing appointment track Academic Professional position; Associate/Full Librarian and salary dependent upon experience.
